https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/former-blizzard-versailles-staff-have-won-their-legal-battle-against-the-company/
Back in 2020, Blizzard closed the doors on its French studio in Versailles, putting around 285 people out of work in the middle of a pandemic. Now, those former employees have won their appeal with French courts against Blizzard.

Rocket League's new battle royale mode is great, actually
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/rocket-leagues-new-battle-royale-mode-is-great-actually/
Rocket League has now been around long enough that many of its event modes have been around for years: but now comes a completely new take which, amazingly enough, gets rid of the ball. The free-for-all Knockout mode is live now until May 10, and is basically an eight-player destruction derby set in new arenas designed for vehicular combat.

It's not just you: Mercy was completely broken in the Overwatch 2 beta
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/its-not-just-you-mercy-was-completely-broken-in-the-overwatch-2-beta/
For the first three days of the Overwatch 2 beta, Mercy couldn't heal properly. The game's most popular healer had a bug that prevented her healing beam from chaining to allies during her Valkyrie ultimate, squashing any hope of saving her team during a hectic fight. Blizzard issued a patch that fixed the ability today, but a list of problems remain for the support character, which are detailed in this Reddit post by user ihatemouthwash.

Beautiful pixels meet brutal Vikings in this sidescrolling base-builder
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/beautiful-pixels-meet-brutal-vikings-in-this-sidescrolling-base-builder/
I guess I don't typically associate 2D sidescrollers with base-building, though when I think about it for a minute games like Terraria and Starbound do come to mind. But if I'm gonna compare Sons of Valhalla to something, it'll be a game more like Kingdom. It's a singleplayer action game that's got tons of vicious Viking combat, base-building, strategy, and even RPG elements.

Dead by Daylight made one of its most popular characters gay, and opinions are all over the place
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/dead-by-daylight-announces-first-gay-character/
The developers of Dead by Daylight announced on Wednesday that David King, a character introduced to the game in 2017, is gay. Reactions ranged from joyful to outraged, and a Reddit thread discussing the decision was ultimately locked.

https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/total-war-warhammer-3s-immortal-empires-dlc-is-still-a-fair-way-off/
Creative Assembly has posted a roadmap of upcoming changes and additions to Total War: Warhammer 3, AKA Princess Maker for daemons, and the long-awaited Immortal Empires is listed as coming in Q3. Warhammer 3's version of Mortal Empires, it's the mode that will combine the factions of every game in the series and put them together on a single map, but it'll only be added in the July - August - September update.

Be a cat, wander a neon city in Stray when it releases this summer
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/be-a-cat-wander-a-neon-city-in-stray-when-it-releases-this-summer/
One of the neater games we've had our eye on for the past few years was BlueTwelve Studio's Stray, a game about a lost cat wandering a cyberpunk city's neon streets looking for its family. We've had little on the game, though, besides a beautiful trailer put out by publisher Annapurna Interactive. We still don't have much:, but now we have a release window. Stray is coming this summer.

Valheim's mistlands tease some ancient, bronze bound stone ruins
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/valheims-mistlands-tease-some-ancient-bronze-bound-stone-ruins/
The developers over at Iron Gate AB continue work apace on Valheim's Mistlands update, posting a new developer diary on Steam. (Though I'm sure they also took a small break and celebrated when the game hit 10 million copies sold.)

The Long Dark's getting paid DLC updates for survival mode
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/the-long-darks-getting-paid-dlc-updates-for-survival-mode/
After a successful Kickstarter, Hinterland Games released hardcore survival game The Long Dark via Early Access in 2014, hitting version 1.0 in 2017. It's continued receiving free updates since, both to its episodic story mode Wintermute and its survival mode, but as director Raphael van Lierop explains in this month's developer diary, that's going to change.

Sentry is an upcoming wave defense FPS about alien hordes invading your spaceship
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/sentry-is-an-upcoming-wave-defense-fps-about-alien-hordes-invading-your-spaceship/
Indie developers Fireblade Software have announced a new game, Sentry, for 2023 release. In Sentry you're a defender trying to save a human ship as it flees a defeated Earth pursued by alien threats. When the aliens catch up to your ship you've got to fight in a dynamic defensive campaign that sees you holding off the enemy from different ship systems. The combination of First-Person Shooter and Tower Defense might remind you of classic-to-some Sanctum.

Megachill tile-placing game with a weird name, Dorfromantik, is out
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/megachill-tile-placing-game-with-a-weird-name-dorfromantik-is-out/
Delightful casual game Dorfromantik is finally finished, with its 1.0 update dropping this past week. It's a game that I find deeply joyous, one where you put down little hexagonal tiles with slices of countryside to try and fulfill cute objectives... which give you more tiles... to make a larger sprawl of fields and villages... until you run out of tiles. Then you start over again. It's all set to a lovely soundtrack that got six new tracks for release.

Dead Cells is getting accessibility features, including an assist mode
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/dead-cells-is-getting-accessibility-features-including-an-assist-mode/
After a year in Early Access, bastard-hard action-platformer Dead Cells arrived at version 1.0 in 2018. It's still being updated regularly, with recent additions including The Queen and the Sea DLC and free add-on Break the Bank. There's more to come. In a recent interview with Twinfinite, marketing manager Matthew Houghton said, "When I first arrived at Dead Cells around a year ago, Arthur [Décamp, designer] showed me the game and what the team still had and I said, 'OK, so we are only about halfway through Dead Cells now.'"

Here's adorably delightful metroidvania Haiku, the Robot
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/heres-adorably-delightful-metroidvania-haiku-the-robot/
A little robot lost in a big robot world, that's pretty much the plot of Haiku the Robot, a recently-released indie with a pretty big heart. Jumping, dodging, blinking, and zipping around a rusting world of robots, Haiku is a side-scrolling action game with a progression system similar to games like Hollow Knight.
