The Wednesday news, part two:

And now: a cute monster breeding game from a former genetic engineering tech
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/and-now-a-cute-monster-breeding-game-from-a-former-genetic-engineering-tech/
When RujiK first played Dragon Quest Monsters, they were disappointed that the results of monster cross-breeding were so… predictable. Every combination was predetermined: set formulas of slimes, drackys, and orcs produced set results, with little call for experimentation.
Years later and now a developer, RujiK is trying to rectify that childhood disappointment with a game named Socket Beast (working title), whose big draw over other monster catchers is its vibrant, GBA-esque art style coupled with a unique animation system which supports combining the game's creatures into potentially thousands of unique offspring. One of RuijiK's WIP demonstrations of the game exploded on Twitter, with a GIF of the game's cheeky little critters exploring its vibrant environments retweeted well over 15,000 times in just a day.

A bunch of old Sonic games will be delisted when the $40 remaster collection releases
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/a-bunch-of-old-sonic-games-will-be-delisted-when-the-dollar40-remaster-collection-releases/
Just last week, Sony annoyed Sonic fans by releasing one of those terrible DLC charts that shows what is and isn't included in the various versions of Sonic Origins. (...)
Well, prepare to get annoyed again, because Sony is planning to delist the digital versions of the games included in the remastered Sonic Origins collection. That covers Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. The great delisting of these games will happen on May 20, about a month before Sonic Origins is released. If you already own digital copies of these games, you'll still be able to play them, but they will no longer be available to buy on Steam and the Xbox Store. (The exception will be the Nintendo Switch versions of Sonic 1 and 2, which will remain available through Sega Ages. Sonic 2 will also be available on Nintendo Switch Online+ for the Sega Genesis.)
>> Unless the writer knows something we don't, you should read Sega whenever it says Sony. Also... those b*stards!

Final Fantasy 14 producer asks players to stop saying "Nice job!" to opponents and then setting off fireworks on their bodies
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/final-fantasy-14-pvp-taunt-rules/
Final Fantasy 14's new 5v5 PvP mode, Crystalline Conflict, has apparently led to such an uptick in bad manners among the players that the game's producer, Naoki Yoshida, directly addressed players in a news post regarding their behavior.

Overwatch 2 has a new way to judge other players, and I'm nervous
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/overwatch-2-has-a-new-way-to-judge-other-players-and-im-nervous/
For as much flak as Battlefield 2042 caught last year for launching without a traditional scoreboard, this has been business as usual for the last six years of Overwatch. The Overwatch score screen lets you see your own performance stats, such as your kill and death counts, but obfuscates the stats of your teammates and enemies. Well, obfuscate no more: Overwatch 2's new PvP beta has a real, honest-to-god scoreboard, and it's putting me on edge.

We still don't know much about Starfield, but its music is on point
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/starfield-music-score-reveal/
Another day, another cinematic, softly-lit video of Bethesda developers pitching us on the big picture artistic drives of their upcoming space RPG, Starfield.
For the third episode of the "Into the Starfield" series, audio director Mark Lampert sits down with composer Inon Zur to discuss their creative processes and goals for the game. Previous episodes covered the game's "NASA-punk" art style and some more conceptual back-and-forth on its gameplay, like how they hope to channel "older hardcore RPGs."

Nvidia GeForce Experience rewards for Genshin Impact are the stingiest yet
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/nvidia-geforce-experience-rewards-for-genshin-impact-are-the-stingiest-yet/
As a bit of a Genshin Impact fan I'm always stoked to hear about any in-game freebies that are on offer. While some of Genshin Impact's resources are notoriously difficult to attain at higher levels, there are a lot of little web events to help provide them here and there. Things like the daily check in page can really help to put a few more Mora and Primos in your pocket when you need them.
Right now, Nvidia and Genshin Impact have joined forces to offer rewards to those using the Nvidia's GeForce Experience app. Any PC gamers with a somewhat recent Nvidia branded card probably are, or can at least download it and get started for free. Not that I'd necessarily recommend doing it for what's on offer.

Sifu lets you be the student or the master with new difficulty options
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/sifu-lets-you-be-the-student-or-the-master-with-new-difficulty-options/
Sifu, the tough-as-nails martial arts brawler, is introducing difficulty options in a free update arriving next week.
The May 3 update will split the game into three difficulties: student, disciple and master. Developer Sloclap hasn't revealed where the original difficulty falls on that scale just yet, saying in a tweet reply that there will be "more info on that very soon." The update will also add an advanced training mode, outfit selection and free costume to go with it.
