smroadkill15 said: That's certainly easier said then done. Even established franchises like Battlefield, Titanfall, Destiny, Halo and other large FPS IP's don't have the same grab as CoD does. We have already seen what Sony has released before when they try their hand at shooters. Nothing bad, but still not even close to less popular shooters like Halo and Battlefield. CoD is staying multiplatform anyways so I'm not sure why you think Sony is going to do something about it. Along with their own CoD, they will make their own ES, Doom, Fallout, Overwatch, and so forth now if MS doesn't play nice? Lol I think if we have learned anything, chasing successful franchises isn't the way to go when it comes to Sony. When they specialize in their own stuff is when they do well. |

Sony already tried to emulate CoD when they made Zipper doodoo up SOCOM 4 and the results weren’t pretty. It’s extremely difficult to make an industry leading franchise, especially one of CoD caliber. In terms of sales, of course. I think the games have been trash for awhile. You make it sound so simple, lol. So Sony would “only need to competitively challenge a few franchises” to make the MS acquisitions worth much less. Ok, good luck to Sony countering: CoD Elder Scrolls Doom Fallout Diablo StarCraft Those are just the six most obvious and biggest selling, there are tons more that im not listing because they’re likely multi platform, like Overwatch, or new IPs like Starfield. Or even ones with no console port announced but could happen, like WoW. Yeah, I’m sure Sony hasn’t already dedicated resources to try and capture some of these huge audiences. That’s sarcasm of course, Sony has already announced they’re working on a slew of GaaS titles. They’re already trying. I gotta laugh at the idea that Sony massively overpaying for Bungie is some kind of warning to MS 😆😆😆 |
So, nobody actually got the point?
Nothing was said about how tough it would be. What was said, and meant, was that if Sony could just compete with COD, and maybe 1 other big new XB franchise, that the rest of those new XB franchises would be in trouble and would suffer. Not because everyone plays COD or would run to PS5, but because MS needs more specific games, with massive audiences, that make huge profits, in order for Game Pass to work.
Sony wouldn't have to compete with everything, just a few. They wouldn't require franchise killers either, just worthy competition.
If anyone could do it, Sony and it's growing studio's and partnerships are at the top of that list.
Will they though? Who knows? Possibilities, possibilities.
