I've tried, but it's not the same. There's more to playing retro games than just playing the games. It's also about immersion, and trying to recreate the vibe that I experienced as a youth when playing them for the first time.
Also, lag input. I've tried everything under the sun, but I still haven't found anything that is as fast and as accurate as the actual game on a CRT. There's a lot of getting close, but I've yet to find something that can match them 100%. Hopefully someday, that will change because our CRTs are going to die off sooner or later. So there needs to be a solution.
