The only reason the media cares about Ukrainians is because the invader here is Russia. No ones gives two shits about the Yemenis living in absolute dire states for almost a decade now bombarded by the Saudis who are emboldened, armed and guided by the West. Yemenis got their two minutes in the sun when Biden promised to do something (to help his campaign image no more). Forget about the invasion of Iraq which the west was totally behind and the disasters that brought to the Middle East, and forget about murkier areas of conflicts like Palestine that's been ongoing since forever.
You can absolutely say the west is bad while also acknowledging that Putin is bad as well.
I am glad the invasion is getting the global resistance it's getting, but I am not kidding myself for a second that the governments of the west are doing this out of the kindness of their hearts. I don't know what countries like Yemen need to get similar attention, find oil wells or maybe be less brown?
The fact that the media is capable of covering the Ukrainian invasion justly and objectively is just further damning evidence that similar conflicts get ignored because they're convenient for the west foreign policies. It isn't a bad time to point this out, it isn't a "pro-Putin" to highlight this, and it isn't whataboutism.
Drop your juvenile binary goggles and take the opportunity to highlight to Biden while his response to Russia is appropriate, he should extend it to other countries even of those countries are allies.
