It's also a much more important sample size, because generally speaking, the teams facing off in the playoffs are bound to be higher quality. The level of competition is much higher than some random regular season game, where maybe 2 bad, or mediocre teams end up in overtime, and then their general incompetence leads to god knows what happening, regardless of the massive advantage that comes with winning the coin toss.

Especially these days when teams are so stacked offensively. It should really come down to who can win in a shootout.
