BotW I fast traveled once maybe twice, and then I realized it was cooler discovering new things along my journey back than it is turning in the quest. BotW is the embodiment of "it's the journey, not the destination"

Not using fast travel in BotW made me plan how to go about the game, exploring one area at a time. It creates a mental image of the game world in your mind much faster and more detailed than when hopping about on the map using fast travel.

The downside is, the growing "to do list" of stuff you need to travel for. Which was actually an upside in Death stranding where I turned into a logistics planner, using the hubs as ware houses, storing stuff with different destinations. It turned a bit into The Settlers for me, where I was the one carrying stuff from hub to hub, combining shipments as efficiently as possible. That game was more like Transport Tycoon for me. Full trucks from hub to hub, then gear up for local deliveries / pick ups by zip line or floating carriers where trucks can't go.
