You should be you and let the chips fall where they may. If that means taking up a side, then so be it. If it means being neutral, then so be that as well. But never compromise who you are just to fit in. If you do, you will find that you still won't fit in (people can sniff out a phony rather quickly), and you'll have lost your own identity as well--thus doubling your misery.
Just be you.
