One day, after some family troubles, I thought why not re-buy some stuff from the past, and give myself some happiness by reliving some old memories. So I got a cool steel Master Sword but that's beside the point. By this time, the original NES and SNES games in our family had sadly long been lost to time, but I didn't just want to get things on Virtual Console or similar services, or worse, on emulator. So I scoured eBay, "Marktplaats" which is a Dutch eBay-type site, and I went to several second-hand stores, markets and fairs. There I got the perfect NES, all complete with everything in a nice original box, and I got the games I played as a kid, all things good.
But I figured I'd take the opportunity to get some other things I never played before. 'Mega Man 2' was one of those games. I never played that game back then, but obviously its reputation precedes it. So I had the NES in my room by the tv next to my bed and night after night I'd play one of my games, and then I got to Mega Man 2, and was surprised by how fluid, fast-paced and varied the game was. The soundtrack is also stellar. I was also impressed by the non-linearity of it, you can choose the order in which you want to play levels. Your progress is then saved with an interesting password system that looks like tic-tac-toe. I wrote those passwords down as I got them, and I still have a stack of them laying around somewhere. My mission was accomplished, I got some happiness back.
