So my friend recommended me to get 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim as it's on sale for Playstation 4 with a pretty deep discount. So I went to PSN and bought it from my laptop as I was too lazy to get up and plug in my ps5. Then I looked on amazon and it was not only cheaper there but it's also the physical version. So I was like well, I may as well buy it there instead and get a refund on PSN.

This is when I realized how much of a pain it really is compared to my usual experience on Steam. On their refund page, it tells you "If you have started to download or stream the purchased content you will not be eligible for a refund unless the content is faulty."

Uhhh what? I am sorry but if I started to download the game, I am not eligible for a refund? In what universe does that make any sense? It's digital content... Luckily my PS5 was unplugged so I didn't start the download but most of the time, one would think people would download something like this immediately. Then comes the actual refund process. While on steam, you go to the website and get the refund in a matter of minutes, I had to wait on queue for an hour with 400+ people ahead of me... That's insane in 2021! Luckily once I got through, it was easy enough to tell the support rep that I wanted a refund.

It's crazy how archaic the console digital fronts continues to be. Even mobile has a better system than PSN which is nuts. While it's better than having no refund system at all, these digital store fronts should at least try to mini-mick steam if they are gonna charge a monthly subscription for their online service. Regardless of which, it made me realize how much I take Steam for granted to not have to deal with such nonsense.
