But if PC is the ultimate gaming hardware, then what, you might reasonably ask, is the ultimate game? That, according to the Golden Joysticks, is FromSoftware's 2011 ARPG Dark Souls, which beat out other contenders in the fan-voted category including Doom, Half-Life 2, Minecraft, Halo: Combat Evolved, Grand Theft Auto 5, Portal, and Space Invaders.

Party Hats are 'pivotal' to the RuneScape economy, and new hats are being given out for the first time in 20 years

RuneScape player 120King says they started cooking sailfish at 6:40 am on Monday. Four hours and "roughly" 4,000 cooked sailfish later, they acquired one of eight shards needed to earn a Golden Party Hat, a piece of gear which grants its wearer zero stat benefits. They have until January 3 to acquire the other seven shards they need to get a hat that does nothing, but may someday make them RuneScape rich.
The last time Party Hats were up for grabs was 20 years ago. Those originals, which also grant wearers absolutely nothing, are now worth over 2.1 billion gold, making them RuneScape's most valuable items.

Valheim has received a small content patch, as part of which it's also shared a few sneak peeks at the next major expansion: Mistlands. The update adds some new enemy types to the Swamps region, which drop materials allowing hardy vikings to craft a new item: This patch also adds a new armour type, which is probably said item.

New World rolls back EU server after accidentally showering players with gold

Amazon Games has just rolled back New World's Central EU server by several hours after accidentally gifting a number of players up to 300,000 gold.
The rollback was announced after a lengthy maintenance period which saw the entire server pulled down a few hours after the gold was sent out. According to the development team, the compensation was originally being rolled out as a catch-up to those who lost gold through in-game tax.

The Roblox Corporation is suing a longtime thorn in its side: one Benjamin Robert Simon, known online as Ruben Sim, who has been making controversial content on and about the platform for many years. The suit was filed Tuesday (thanks, Polygon) in California and alleges Simon "commits and encourages unlawful acts designed to injure Roblox and its users" while seeking $1.6 million in damages.
