Dwarf Fortress looks like an innocent enough sim until you accidentally tap into an aquifer and drown every dwarf in your fortress, or until a horde of goblins shows up to slaughter your children. Any good fortress has a mazelike entrance full of traps just in case goblins come knocking, and the latest update video for the upcoming Steam version of Dwarf Fortress shows one such "hallway of doom" with its fancy new graphics.

It was first rumoured a month ago that the port will remove certain aspects of the original that, in 2021, don't hold up so well. Most of this revolves around Ashley, the president's daughter and the person that Leon has to protect for most of the game. Ashley is a young woman and the original game includes several moments where male characters express an attraction towards her or comment on her physique.

Call of Duty: Warzone's Halloween event, The Haunting of Verdansk, returned this week for a second annual round of spooky royale. Grasshopper Manufacture Inc., the Japanese developer best-known for the No More Heroes series and CEO Goichi Suda's irreverently surreal style, has been acquired from its parent company GungHo Online Entertainment by Chinese technology giant NetEase. The studio has made over 25 games in its 23 years, most directed by Suda, also known as Suda-51. As well as No More Heroes, notable titles include killer7, Shadows of the Damned, Lollipop Chainsaw, and the classic Michigan: Report from Hell.
