Sea of Thieves celebrates 25 million players by tossing money around
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/sea-of-thieves-celebrates-25-million-players-by-tossing-money-around/
Sea of Thieves released three years ago and, despite a fairly lacklustre launch offering, has blossomed into an enjoyable cooperative seafaring game. Rare executive producer Joe Neate reports today that the game has hit the 25 million player milestone, and no doubt the near-constant flow of new updates has helped that number grow.
Neate lists 25 of the game's most recent additions in his blog post, but the more pertinent info is: free money. Specifically, if you log into Sea of Thieves between October 19 and October 26 you'll get 25,000 gold and 25 doubloons. That's for everyone, but one lucky player who logs in during that time will get 25 million gold, which will make you quite rich in Sea of Thieves terms. Maybe you can give up the pirating life?
>> Looks like Rare has finally redeemed itself after so many failed games (tho I liked the Viva Piñata series).

If last week's surprise Fallout 3 update broke your mods, here's a fix
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/if-last-weeks-surprise-fallout-3-update-broke-your-mods-heres-a-fix/
Last week, Fallout 3 was finally freed from the scourge of Games for Windows Live. But as is so often the way of things, that freedom came at a price—specifically, that the Fallout Script Extender (FOSE) no longer works, and so all of the many mods that rely on it have also stopped working. Oops. That's a pretty big problem, made worse by the fact that the creators "do not have a timeframe for when FOSE can be updated to this new version" of the game.
Enter the Fallout Anniversary Patcher, by mod maker lStewieAl, which restores FOSE functionality by downgrading Fallout 3 to the pre-update version 1.7.0.3, while maintaining the removal of Games for Windows Live dependences. It also automatically loads FOSE when Fallout 3 is started (if it's installed) and enables the game to use 4GB of RAM: Some older Bethesda games, including Fallout 3, have a 2GB limit on RAM usage, and patching that up to 4GB can have a very positive impact on performance.
The patch will work with both the standard and Game of the Year editions of Fallout 3 on Steam or GOG.
