https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/total-war-warhammer-3-introduces-the-chaotic-mastermind-of-manipulation-tzeentch/
Forget blood-soaked balrogs and puke-soaked zombies. The smartest servants of Chaos knows it's all about schemes, manipulation and unpredictability, with the ever-shifting Tzeentch making his way into Total War: Warhammer 3 next year.

Cheat makers already have Call of Duty's new anti-cheat driver, but Activision isn't bothered
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/cheat-makers-already-have-call-of-dutys-new-anti-cheat-driver-but-activision-isnt-bothered/
Activision unveiled its new secret weapon against Call of Duty cheaters earlier this week, a kernel level anti-cheat called Ricochet that will finally (hopefully) do something about the plague of hackers in Warzone and future Call of Duty games. But then yesterday, disaster appeared to strike when Anti-Cheat Police Department, a Twitter group dedicated to "gathering intelligence on cheats to detect and disrupt cheating vendors," claimed that the driver had leaked.
"P2C [pay to cheat] devs are already reverse engineering it, this is already very bad," the group said. Fan site Modern Warzone also claimed to have seen "proof of the source code being scrubbed through."

A Squid Game videogame could happen, Netflix says
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/squid-game-video-game-netflix/
Netflix Asia executive Minyoung Kim says a Squid Game videogame is being considered, THR reports. Can't say I'm shocked, since Netflix says Squid Game is on the way to being its most-watched show ever, beating The Witcher's reported viewership of 76 million.

How Battlefield 2042 beta players felt about 'the next generation of warfare'
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/battlefield-2042-beta-reaction/
For some Battlefield fans, last weekend's Battlefield 2042 open beta lowered their expectations for the full game, which will release this November after a month-long delay.
"I've had Battlefield disappoint me before, but this is the first time I actually thought the inherent core game was bad," wrote Reddit user TerrorFirmerIRL, who said they cancelled their Battlefield 2042 pre-order following their experience with the beta.

https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/minecrafts-next-big-release-is-called-the-wild-update-out-2022/
We've not even gotten the second part of the Caves and Cliffs update yet, but Mojang has seemingly set the Minecraft train to full steam ahead. The block building sandbox's next big update, called 'The Wild', will be out sometime in 2022.

Minecraft's new mob is a dancing, gift-giving spirit
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/minecrafts-new-mob-is-a-gift-collecting-dancing-spirit/
The results of this year's fan votes are in, and the Allay has won. A blue, floating winged spirit, the Allay is an overworld mob friendly to players. It likes to dance to the sound of music blocks and, when given a gift, will run off to collect more of that thing to give the player in return. If there's a music block nearby, the Allay will deposit its treasure right there.

Lots of people have wondered when characters from Dota 2's animated spinoff Dota: Dragon's Blood would make their way into the game, and the answer is: Soon. Marci was announced at The International 2021 as the next hero to come to Valve's MOBA. A trailer with both 2D animation in the style of the show and a transition to Marci's 3D model was released today.

Looks like Rainbow Six Extraction will be out January 20
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/looks-like-rainbow-six-extraction-will-be-out-january-20/
Rainbow Six Extraction, Ubisoft's way of getting in on the popularity of co-op horde shooters by turning Rainbow Six Siege into a three-player L4D-like with alien zombies, was given a release date of September 16 at E3 earlier this year. That was then pushed back to January 2022, though a specific date wasn't given. As VGC points out, however, Ubisoft's own blog post about Extraction's gameplay debut from June has been quietly amended to give a release date of January 20. (Via the Wayback Machine, here's the https://news.ubisoft.com/en-gb/article/5wY6rSmd8997xcwIDJh6Gg/rainbow-six-extraction-unleashes-tactical-coop-action-on-september-16">original version of the same blog post with the September 16 date.)

FIFA says it never liked EA anyway, will see other publishers now
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/fifa-says-it-never-liked-ea-anyway-will-see-other-publishers-now/
The world footballing governing body FIFA has issued a statement titled 'FIFA set to widen gaming and esports portfolio' which I'm sure has absolutely nothing to do with EA's recent announcement it would look to re-brand the long-running FIFA series. FIFA wanted too much money and it looks like the latest entry FIFA 22 will be the last under that name, with EA having trademarked 'EA Sports FC'.

Fez and Portal are perfect partners in this short free mashup
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/fez-and-portal-are-perfect-partners-in-this-short-free-mashup/
Phil Fish may have infamously cancelled Fez 2 almost a decade back. But thankfully, a curious mash-up has given the blocky platformer new life (and the vague promise of cake).
Released back in June, Feztal is a short proof-of-concept from Krzyhau, who you might recall from those cursed Portal 2 maps earlier this year. As part of a long-running series that twisted Valve's puzzler into wild "what if?" scenarios, he posted a short video that asked "what if Portal 2 was Fez". Turns out, it only took around a month to discover it'd make for a damn fine puzzle game—though I'd somehow missed its full release before now.

Microsoft teases a big Fable reveal, swiftly un-teases it
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/microsoft-teases-a-big-fable-reveal-swiftly-un-teases-it/
Contrary to, err, its own words, Xbox Game Studios Publishing's own Twitter account has announced there's no big Fable news planned for today. Sorry.
It's been over a year since Microsoft announced that Fable was coming back, and while we've had some slim tidbits in the meantime, we're still waiting on any kind of meaningful update. Yesterday, the publisher's social accounts was abuzz with teasers that indicated we'd be getting fresh news on Microsoft's lapsed RPG with a fond reference to chickens (Thanks, RPS).
