I think the best fan-service is if Fallout was "remade" in the latest Net Immerse turned Gamebryo turned Creation engine... Much akin to that of Skyblivion.
There would obviously need to be a massive community undertaking of course...
But there is no secret that Fallout 3/New Vegas has NOT aged well visually.
The flip side is... Microsoft is likely able to provide Bethesda more resources now to undertake development of Elder Scrolls, Starfield AND Fallout concurrently. - Will it happen though? Who knows. Fallout 76 left a bad taste in many a persons mouth.
