Some of those replies from the social media team at Volition are so combative and rude to members of their own fanbase. This is not the right way to go about dealing with a controversy like this. They're basically taking the exact same approach that some of the LucasFilm people have taken when their Disney Star Wars products are criticized by the old-school fanbase, which has only further incensed the fans. One person was even straight

The right way to handle something like this to tell fans that you appreciate their concerns, tell them that their concerns are valid. Tell them that you will make note of their concerns and attempt to address them in the future on later Saints Row projects, but also let them know that it is too late to make any significant changes on this Saints Row game (because let's face it, it is, this game is 6 months away and already in the making for over 6 years, it would be too expensive for the publisher Deep Silver to delay it any longer, especially since it would pretty much have to be rebuilt entirely to fix what they have done wrong). Fans are going to have to accept the fact that this game is never going to be the Saints Row game that they want it to be, but the devs also need to make sure that a new game for the old fans is made in the future, be it an actual brand new game with the old characters, or a proper remake of an older game like SR2.

I don't know what ended up being good after such a big backlash and response. And though lets say the game might turn out to be good, and just trailer is just horrible, this is not the way you interact with your customers. Like calling your fans who bought your games haters and nonchalantly shrugging your shoulders when they are passionate about your product/s isn't a good look. Imagine if people got snarky responses like this in a retail store, you'd get absolutely panned for it. Unprofessional, and non caring for your exisiting customers and fan/userbase no matter how bad, this ain't the way to do it.
