Stromprophet said: Well, how far did it get them? If you put 360 and PS3 sales together they are beating the Wii. Meaning that the market for Hi-def gaming, online gaming, and all the features these consoles provide is indeed larger than the market for the Wii. Meaning if there were 2 choices, the Wii and a Hi-def console the Hi-def console would be winning out at this point and HDTV hasn't even grown to the point where it will be.
That is not necessarily true (if you look at worldwide sales the Wii has outsold the combination of the PS3+XBox 360); but beyond that there is another (very important) system that has been selling well in North America and Europe. Combine the PS2 and the Wii sales and you will see that (roughly) 60% of home consoles sold in North America do not have High definition gaming, not much in the way of an online strategy, and don't have media center capabilities ... I expect these numbers will remain as dramatic in February and will actually get worse for HD gaming in march (with the release of God of War 2)
