That is not necessarily true (if you look at worldwide sales the Wii has outsold the combination of the PS3+XBox 360); but beyond that there is another (very important) system that has been selling well in North America and Europe.
Combine the PS2 and the Wii sales and you will see that (roughly) 60% of home consoles sold in North America do not have High definition gaming, not much in the way of an online strategy, and don't have media center capabilities ... I expect these numbers will remain as dramatic in February and will actually get worse for HD gaming in march (with the release of God of War 2)
