The other way to look at it is before Intel was only some what off with there naming from reality and now they just as far off from reality as TSMC, Samsung etc.  None of the companies process node name actually close in anyway to the actual size of anything.  Which is why even after the name change Intel new 7nm is still slightly more dense then TSMC 7nm.
