Because it says socketed, most likely it is similar to Xbox where if you can get to it's location, you can probably replace it but because you have to remove quite a lot of things, it's not intended to be user replaceable and probably will void the warranty.

I look forward to someone like Gamers Nexus doing a teardown to see exactly how hard it will be.  It good to see that there are 512GB/1TB options in existence even through it look like you have to ship from Europe if you in north America to get it.  That could change through if Steam Deck become popular.

As far as voiding warranty a lot of company try to claim that but by letter of law at least in USA companies are not suppose to be allowed to void your warranty for opening up any electronic device you own.

Valve also fairly good about replacing products under warranty at least if you go by the many many index controllers they have replaced under warranty.  Great controller for VR but not the most durable controller out there.
