That is good. Cause then it will be developed from the ground up. Any idea on release date? I didn't see this on IGNs list of upcoming games?
You're right, for a fair share of the 13-29 male market, the Wii isn't the main system, but still a good second system to have. It will never appeal to everyone, no console ever has. But guess what? Both 360 and PS3 are both aiming at the "dedicated gamer" and nothing else at this point. At this point, the Wii is the only one of the 3 consoles that offers more to a wider audience, and not focusing on "deditcated gamers".
I disagree. 360 offers games such as Viva Pinata (which would appeal to players under 13 years old). Both PS3 and 360 offer better online content, which is increasingly important even to younger players below 13 years old. And also adults older than 30. In the case of PS3 they are taking it one step further and targeting entertainment as well with the Blu-ray drive. Which expands outside of the gaming community. Anyone with an HD set who has seen the difference between regular tv and HDTV would be interested in this, because the difference between DVD and Hi-def disc is very similar. I think the PS1 and PS2 came about as close as you can get to satisfying everyone and just about as many households as possible having one.
At almost half the price of a non-crippled 360, less than half the price of the main PS3? It's a gaming console with some "cool extras", not a massive all-in-1 multimedia center that's trying to take over your living room.
Half the price? Not quite, it's closer to a 1/3 of the price. And not less than half the 500 dollar PS3.
Is it so wrong to have a SINGLE console that doesn't try to do everything online? Cripes, I'm among the 1/3 of AMERICANS that CANNOT get broadband. Does everyone wanna leave us out in the cold? Jeez-Louise....
Well, I say this cause so many people insist on saying the Wii is going to take over the world and wipe the floor with the other competitors and you just made my point. It's not competing in the SAME market. It's perfectly correct to in fact categorize it differently than the other competitors. Cannot get or Don't use? I believe almost every single household in America has some access to cable TV, and if you do it's likely you have access to Hi-speed. Even then, it's still likely you can get DSL service if you can't get Cable service. 1/3, I find that highly unlikely that 1/3 CAN'T get cable. Maybe 1/3 choose not to, and yes it's good they are filling a void.
And it sure didn't get them very far, did it? Maybe it's because I'm a PC gamer as well, but I've heard so much about "better physics and AI" for so many years it's sickening, for at least a decade, methinks.
Well, how far did it get them? If you put 360 and PS3 sales together they are beating the Wii. Meaning that the market for Hi-def gaming, online gaming, and all the features these consoles provide is indeed larger than the market for the Wii. Meaning if there were 2 choices, the Wii and a Hi-def console the Hi-def console would be winning out at this point and HDTV hasn't even grown to the point where it will be. HDTVs are going to keep dropping in price and Hi-def players will also become affordable this year. Meaning the market for HD will be expanding and growing and the market for arcade style, low-def, simple games will stay the same size. I only use my PC for strategy games personally. I don't care for the mega good looking games like F.E.A.R. or Crysis. To me playing those games on the PC just is not entertaining.
