Yeah, there's a reason I stopped replying directly to him. He's like 'oh, you just don't understand the points I'm trying to make', and I'm just over here shaking my head. I understand his points just fine, they're just bad points and it's considered uncouth to just be like 'your points are bad and you should feel bad for making them'.

Sadly, engaging them just gives them fuel to keep going. I'll just sit over here, rolling my eyes and thinking of a dozen different reasons why his stance is bad, but not bothering to actually interact with him. Because this isn't a debate. This isn't 'here are my points and why I feel this way, now here are my points and why I Feel this way, let's compare and contrast to see who's points are better', it's 'I don't like having to pay 10 dollars more so I'm gonna bend over backwards and twist everything to justify that stance'. And any attempt to argue with him (or anyone else, really) is just pushing them to double down on their stance, not double check their points.

I know, I'm just killing time while having a cup of coffee :)

What scares me much more is comments like these (on Eurogamer today)

I don't like to be told what to play but GamePass pays me with reward points for completing Quests to play certain games and I'm complying for once.
So I've been playing GTAV, Quantum Break and other GamePass titles. I'm actually having fun and unlocking achievements along the way.
For Honour and Grounded next. Playing for £5 credit is becoming a fun and rewarding experience so I'm happy.

That's some first class manipulation going on. Just play what the boss wants you to play to be able to keep playing. I guess it's the solution to too much choice... MS does way too much of that conditioning through reward points. A loyalty discount is one thing, but conditioning people to do stuff for rewards, that scares me, for the simple reason that it works all too well with games. I'm glad my oldest isn't chasing nonsense anymore for nonsense Fortnite season passes, that crap was pure evil and induced a lot of stress on him. (They all quit Fortnite for Ark and now trying Rust)
