Destiny 2's best exotic weapon is getting nerfed
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/destiny-2s-best-exotic-weapon-is-getting-nerfed/
There's a lot going on in the latest edition of This Week at Bungie, including a look at upcoming weapon tweaks and tuning, some more sandbox stuff related to specific perks, info on the Master Vault of Glass raid, and some vague chat about ideas for the game's future. The big hit, though, lands squarely on Destiny 2's best PvE gun: Anarchy.

https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/mortal-kombat-11-is-finished-netherrealm-is-moving-on-to-a-new-project/
More than two years after its release in April 2019, after adding 12 characters post-release, Mortal Kombat 11 is officially finished. NetherRealm Studios said on Twitter today that it's time to move on to other things, and no further content will be made for the game.

Call of Duty: Warzone hacker joins streamer's squad, forcibly crashes the game
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/call-of-duty-warzone-hacker-joins-streamers-squad-forcibly-crashes-the-game/
A mere 24 hours after our last check-in with Call of Duty: Warzone cheaters, there's a new reason to watch your back around suspicious players. It seems that Warzone cheaters are now capable of forcing a player's game to crash under certain circumstances, a lesson that 100 Thieves streamer Thomas "Tommey" Trewren learned the hard way during a July 1 livestream.

EA says it's not planning in-game video ads, following report (updated)
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/this-company-is-putting-video-ads-in-games-and-ea-has-already-signed-up/
According to an Axios report, EA recently struck a deal related to an in-game advertising system called playerWON, which is said to bring video ad tech to console and PC games. EA says that's not true. The company tells PC Gamer that it isn't putting ads in console games, and that it hasn't made any deal to do so.

Respawn developer shares the reason behind Wattson's awkward animations
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/respawn-developer-shares-the-reason-behind-wattsons-awkward-animations/
Respawn's principal animator Moy Parra recently took to Twitter to explain why Apex Legends character Natalie 'Wattson' Paquette holds her weapons "a bit awkwardly" in a fun behind-the-scenes video.

Dragon Age 4 might not have news, but it does have concept art
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/dragon-age-4-might-not-have-news-but-it-does-have-concept-art/
We knew going in that this year's EA Play wasn't going to show any of Dragon Age 4 or the new Mass Effect game. Even so, BioWare executive producer Christian Dailey posted an apology on Twitter along with some new concept art, promising that "the team is heads down with a lot of momentum and making great progress," and said they'll share more when the time is right.

Solve wild-western mysteries in Frog Detective 3
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/solve-wild-western-mysteries-in-frog-detective-3/
Yeehaw, pards, time to saddle up and hit the trail. The trail... of a mystery. Or something.
PC Gaming's premier amphibian mystery-solver is back for what I am absolutely sure will be a very goofy romp through yet another mystery, trying to figure out if crime is in fact real or not. Developer Grace Bruxner announced the latest Frog Detective game on Twitter, called Frog Detective 3: Corruption at Cowboy County. It's confirmed that both the titular detective and sidekick(?) Lobster Cop will make a return.

Here's the sick toad-bug-dragon coming to Total War: Warhammer 2
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/heres-the-sick-toad-bug-dragon-coming-to-total-war-warhammer-2/
Today's new trailer for Total War: Warhammer 2's big update shows off the jabberslythe, a horrible amalgamation of toad and dragon and insect and goat, kind of, I guess—look, what I'm saying here is that it's butt-ugly, poisonous, and poses a threat to the integrity of reality itself. Just standing near the creature drains opponents' health, making the jabberslythe an anti-infantry monster of the highest caliber.

New Mass Effect Legendary Edition modding tools arrive
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/new-mass-effect-legendary-edition-modding-tools-arrive/
The Mass Effect modding community has been hard at work on a toolset for the Legendary Edition, expanding how far modders will be able to go in altering BioWare's RPG trilogy. That toolset, which is called Legendary Explorer, has just made it to public beta. As the @MassEffectMods Twitter account says, "If you're a mod user, get hyped, because you're going to start seeing proper package-file DLC mods appearing on the Nexus very soon."

Guild Wars 2 expansion delayed
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/guild-wars-2-expansion-delayed/
Last year, ArenaNet announced that it was going to delay the Steam launch of Guild Wars 2 to focus on its next expansion, End of Dragons, which was due in late 2021. In a new blog post the studio has said that it's going to need to delay that as well, and End of Dragons is being pushed back to early 2022.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 is going to update with cute doggies
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/monster-hunter-stories-2-is-going-to-update-with-cute-doggies/
The story of one boy's quest to keep dangerous, exotic animals as pets will release on July 9th, but apparently the stuff won't stop there as Capcom has detailed an extensive update schedule for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. The suite of free updates, some of which were previously announced, kicks off with the addition of Monster Hunter Rise's signature Palamutes, the adorable rideable dogs, on July 15th.

Sandbox building RPG Hytale isn't coming until 2023 'at the earliest'
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/sandbox-building-rpg-hytale-isnt-coming-until-2023-at-the-earliest/
Exploration, crafting, and adventure RPG Hytale has been delayed from a planned 2021 release to a release in 2023. The delay was announced by Hytale developers Hypixel Studios in their summer 2021 development update, the first in six months.

Quake Champions is celebrating 25 years with one of the original Quake maps
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/quake-champions-is-celebrating-25-years-with-one-of-the-original-quake-maps/
Quake is turning 25, and so Quake Champions is celebrating with "a rocket blast from the past" in their Summer 2021 update. Along with a number of legacy weapon customisations, the update sees the addition of one of the original 1996 Quake multiplayer maps: The Dark Zone.

Apex Legends hacked to protest Titanfall server hacks
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/apex-legends-hacked-to-protest-titanfalls-server-situation/
Broad reports from players across social media outlined a hacking attack on Apex Legends servers that left the game unplayable, instead replacing server playlists with a message about Titanfall, Respawn's previous game series. "SAVETITANFALL.COM, TF1 is being attacked so is Apex," said the message. Players also received an "Important Message" popup after matches reading "Visit and repost savetitanfall.com".

Studio behind Metro Exodus are hiring for a new IP
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/studio-behind-metro-exodus-are-hiring-for-a-new-ip/
4A Games, the studio behind Metro Exodus, have advertised a number of job listings explicitly for a "new IP". While 4A appear to be hiring a large number of staff in general, there are six roles that are labelled as for a new IP: three design roles, and three artist roles.

Terraform Mars in this clever combo of tile placement and nonviolent 4X
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/terraform-mars-in-this-clever-combo-of-tile-placement-and-nonviolent-4x/
Terraformers is an upcoming strategy game with familiar premise—Terraforming the planet Mars—but a novel implementation of the gameplay a lot unlike what I've otherwise seen. I got a chance to play it during the Steam Next Fest 2021 and was charmed by the emphasis on strategy more like Civilization V, or a tile placement board game, than the recent real-time base building games with the same theme.

The latest indie about chaotic animals is one with penguin pals pulling heists
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/the-latest-indie-about-chaotic-animals-is-one-with-penguin-pals-pulling-heists/
Maybe I've just watched too much Wallace and Gromit, but it doesn't take a lot to pitch me on the idea of penguins doing crime. The Greatest Penguin Heist Of All Time is solely about that.
>> Anyone who's watched Madagascar, knows that penguins are up to no good.

Dark Pictures: The Devil in Me leaked by trademark filing
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/dark-pictures-the-devil-in-me-leaked-by-trademark-filing/
It's still a few months until The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes comes out, but the name of what is presumably the next in Supermassive Games' horror series has been given away by a trademark filing (as spotted by @RobotBrush on Twitter). It's called The Devil in Me, so it's probably about either demonic possession or Suzi Quatro. Could go either way.

Guilty Gear Strive quietly removed references to Uyghur, Tibet and Taiwan
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/guilty-gear-strive-quietly-removed-references-to-uyghur-tibet-and-taiwan/
To help you understand its convoluted, globe-spanning story, Guilty Gear Strive comes with an extensive in-game glossary. But late last month, players discovered that one entry had been altered to remove references to less fantastical elements of Chinese history.

Ubisoft would rather delist Might and Magic 10 than fix its DRM issues
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/ubisoft-would-rather-delist-might-and-magic-10-than-fix-its-drm-issues/
Back in April, Ubisoft announced that servers for Might and Magic X: Legacy would go offline. But with that shutdown disabling the game's strict DRM support, the 2014 RPG was left completely unplayable—with Ubisoft now deciding to delist it from Steam rather than patch up its problems.
>> That's low, even for Ubisoft.

Phil Spencer admits Xbox needed the Perfect Dark reboot to make its firstparty lineup less male
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/phil-spencer-admits-xbox-needed-the-perfect-dark-reboot-to-make-its-firstparty-lineup-less-male/
Head of Xbox Phil Spencer recently popped onto IGN's Unlocked podcast and talked a little about the upcoming Perfect Dark reboot. While he kept it mostly detail-free, he also expanded on the reasons for bringing back Joanna Dark and just how long it's been in planning.
>> That must be one of the lamest reasons to bring Perfect Dark back. No proper gamer cares about that, only the non-gaming crowd does.

Time Bandit reimagines Metal Gear Solid as a darkly comic work sim
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/time-bandit-reimagines-metal-gear-solid-as-a-darkly-comic-work-sim/
What's the best way to get across an anti-capitalist message in a videogame? I don't know, but forcing you to work a gruelling, tedious factory job in real-time must be up there.

Please excuse my bad English.
