By the way, I saw this article a couple days ago but I kind of forgot to post it:

The first 32GB DDR5 RAM kit lands at retail for $311 and it’s already sold out

The DDR5 era has officially begun, just not in earnest. And by that I mean, the first consumer kit of DDR5 RAM has found its way to retail sites, including Amazon and Newegg, but if you purchase one you'll have to sit on it until Alder Lake arrives later this year.

What do you think? On one hand, $311 is a lot, but given that it's 32GB and brand new... well, it could be worse. We'll have to see how prices go when more models arrive.

I figure DDR5 ram will be hard to find in the initial launch months but since it's a new generation of RAM, it certainly is one of those things that people should wait for reviews before going into a mine field. Especially since Alder Lake S is supposed to have DDR4 as an option.

This ram in particular is probably going to perform terribly compared to a DDR4 version.

It's DDR5 4800 but the timings are 40-40-40-77 which is horrible. Compared to DDR4 which you can also get at 4800 but with much better 20-30-30-50 timings.
