No, the autosave was quite generous and never robbed me of a good chunk of progress, so I never had to worry about it. Big improvement over the first game where it was easy to forget to manually save and the energy cost limited how often you could.

Thanks. I bought and beat the first game, so I was curious. I honestly had forgotten about the sequel until I saw your thread but now I think I'm going to give it a spin.
