The major problem here is that Sony is still keeping the PS3 at $600 in most consumers eyes. All that changed is the prior "premium" model is now the gimped model. Yes technically it's a better buy but most consumers will just assume the $600 model is much better and if you're going to spend $500 why not $600 (usually you get more than $100 of extras for the upgrade, and no 5 crap BR movies given to you so Sony can keep bragging about how many BR movies are "selling" doesn't count).
