Can you show me the game you are referring to so I can get a better understanding since I have seen a number of hentai games that's uncensored on steam that have a school setting.

Hell as an example, Sony and MS both denied Gun Gal Returns but Steam allowed it and that's in a school setting.

Also Paypal isn't the type of company to send notifications. If something blows up like it did with Pornhub, Paypal exists without any warning. Also it could be the fact that I am in Canada but Amazon Canada doesn't support PayPal.

On censorship of VNs based on inconsistent guidelines with no appeals (also, it wasn't localized by Squeenix. I'm confident I saw something on Otome Break being Steam blacklisted, but this might have just been mistaken identity).

On the removal of school based games.

Another one.

Also... eeeeyyyy, turns out I'm using it through a "workaround method": my Paypal Key. On the other hand, I just checked which payments I've made with Paypal... they include... DMM. Yeah, that's way more "West objectionable" than Amazon.

Yea I don't doubt that they removed some as it's all subjective to the employee. Some employees have no issues while others think anime is the spawn of Satan. But I don't think they really banned the school setting in general as Steam has had a number of school setting lewd games that came into the store even after those. Hell Gun Gal returns came out this year.

That's not to say that it's not nonsense on Valve's part to not allow those types of games cause without playing those games myself, it certainly sounds like they are more tame than Gun Gal returns which is a school setting game that is pretty perverted.

But at the end of the day, as a whole, Steam is doing much more for the hentai and anime community than any other western store front. They aren't perfect and needs to work on their guidelines but I don't think it makes sense to say that it's better for a store to be like Epic Games and put a hard "No" compared to Steam which is more of Yes with caveats. Almost every week, I see quite a lot of lewd games make it onto Steam. Some are censored, some aren't censored. Those that are censored have easy ways to get the uncensored patches typically in the user reviews or pinned in the forums. But the key here is the developers get to make money which fuels more hentai games. But if Steam were to say a hard "No" like Epic Games is doing, then they aren't helping the community but rather hurting it. And that's why I like Steam cause while they have a long way to go, they are at least going down the path where as many other companies aren't even bothering to start.

And yea, I am sure PayPal treats those kinds of methods differently compared to their integration platform. Although with Amazon, I think it's more the fact that Amazon wants to handle their own payments instead of paying someone like PayPal to do it.
