With stock and at MSRP prices? Colour me surprised. Anyway, guys, I need your wise advise... but I'll settle with just some kind of advise. My father's PC is slow as fuck and he's tired of it, so "we" are going to get a new one. He sets a budged and I do the rest. So far, the prebuild PCs I've seen are rubish or incomplete (like not including a Windows license), so I'll get the needed parts: CPU, mobo, RAM and an SSD to make it even more responsive. His current PC has an FX 6300 (yeah, it has some years in it) and while almost anyhting will be faster than it, I don't really want to settle for something with only 4 cores/4 threads or less. With that in mind, it turns out that the best option I've seen is the i5 11400. Trust me, I wasn't expecting that, but with 6-cores/12-threads, it fits the bill and it's not stupidly expensive, plus H410 motherboards are cheap and the DDR4 2666HMz RAM that it supports is also more affordable. By the way, AMD is not an option, sadly. Their CPUs either don't have an iGPU, and there's no way to add a GPU within the budget (plus it would be a waste of money), or the ones that have one are either 4-cores/4-threads (2200G/3200G) that are slower than the Intel processor, or are quite more expensive than it while not being better. And by "quite more" I mean that I could almost buy a cheap H410 motherboard with the difference. So, what do you think? Any suggestions? |
