I love story based games as long as the story is decent. My interest in cutscenes has waned over the years. For the most part to me they break immersion and take away control. I find myself prefering interactive cutscenses al la Half Life 2 or at the least cutscenes that are drived more from your actions than soley from what the developer wants to show you. Something Mass Effect like.

In a lot of games cutsceens are no longer at the level of eye-candy cgi that they were in the past. Game engines are close to what typically gets rendered as CGI. There is no longer the sense of anticipation I used to get for the "pretty" cutscenes. I'd rather have it in engine to keep the illusion of control over what is happening. I find that brings a far more immersive and involved experience.
