No, it will crash and burn even worse in Japan than anywhere else. 3D platformers aren't big in Japan, the only ones that were ever able to sell much are 3D Mario games.
If a platformer in general isn't called Mario but has converted into Dollar a $60 pricetag, it will bomb. That happened with Crash 4 and Sackboy lately.
