Honestly if you really know what you're doing he could fix it but it's not like a PC. I've fixed Xbox360's before to the tune of 20$ in supplies. It involves knowing something about electronics though not just software. Also it's only temporary when you fix it though generally it seems to last a good long while every few times you fix it'll break after a short period. Really poor design on it..
that goes back to microsofts experience as a software company not a hardware company though. They tried to do it internally to save money and see what happens?
