In fact Ori literally has almost half of the game dependent on enemy A.I. co-operating with the player in order to even do the platforming sections right, which creates scenarios where the enemy A.I. won't respond correctly and you'll lose progress for no reason other than the fault of the A.I. not being good. Just saying, I don't see how that is any better than Dark Souls. |
What does it matter whether another game has the same problem? How is that relevant...
However thanks for the heads up. I gave up early on Ori, mostly because it always stuttered during combat on my laptop making it very much not fun to play. Lower settings didn't help one bit, bad port since other more demanding games didn't have any issues. I won't bother trying it again!

Other games: create distance from bosses, heal immediate after taking a hit, find good armor, upgrade all skills, learn to block Souls: Bosses close distance too quickly, stay tight on the hip to roll past a swing. Don't heal until after dodging an attack (given it takes time to use Estus), armor is all but worthless, balanced character is a crap character, blocking isn't as effective as rolling Really once a person breaks previously learned habits, souls isn't that hard. Edit I would also add in other games people spend a lot of time worrying about what weapon to use, in Souls who gives a ****. Pick up a weapon and level it up, stick with it. |
Keeping distance and blocking worked perfectly fine during the entire game, except the bosses...
I went for a magic build on my second attempt, since my timing sucks. Dodge I can pull off reasonably well, parry not at all, thus block and roll, run away. (light armor to run faster) I hated all the bosses for those reasons.
I only used weapons as finishers, wear down with magic, deal the finishing blow with a weapon. The puzzle was how to get only one enemy at a time and to manage mana (or whatever it was called) Unfortunately what worked great for the entire game, didn't work at all for the bosses, which I only got by in co-op, playing nuke assist from a distance. With light armor, one missed dodge meant death.
