To be frank, how much you like Astral Chain is entirely dependent on how much you care about action games being good at ... well ... being good at being an action game. Astral Chain kind of goes for a weird action/RPG crossover but doesn't do it nearly as well as something like Nier Automata in the RPG aspect, ultimately just being an action game with RPG elements. In saying that, it has one of the worst ranking systems an action game could possibly have, and while it's not "confusing" as the previous poster said it is true that it's not super intuitive at first either. You get used to the system though, but it doesn't forgive the terrible ranking system. Also the graphics while being some of the best on Switch, can actually be detrimental at times to the player as the high amount of particle effects and bright flashing colors can make it harder to focus on what's going on. There's a visual language most action games follow that Astral Chain doesn't do a good job of implementing.

It's a good game, and I wouldn't mind a sequel to perfect the formula but yea, it's not great.
