https://www.pcgamer.com/phasmophobia-will-linger-in-early-access-longer-than-planned/
Phasmophobia may haunt Early Access longer than planned after the game's wildly popular launch convinced its developer to reconsider the scope of the multiplayer spooker.

I'll probably be dead before Amazon's Lord of the Rings MMO is released
https://www.pcgamer.com/ill-probably-be-dead-before-amazons-lord-of-the-rings-mmo-is-released/
A series of new job listings linked to Amazon's in-development Lord of the Rings MMO, first spotted by Gamespot, indicate that the project has barely begun. We first reported last year that Amazon was partnering up with Chinese publisher Leyou Technology Holdings to create a F2P Tolkien-'em-up, unrelated to its also-in-development TV series.

Star Wars: Squadrons patch takes aim at ranks, bombers, and broken matchmaking
https://www.pcgamer.com/star-wars-squadrons-patch-takes-aim-at-ranks-bombers-and-broken-matchmaking/
While Star Wars: Squadrons is one hell of a dogfighting game, its deadliest foe wasn't an Imperial ace or Rebel smuggler. Instead, janky matchmaking issues have been slowly wiping out fleets, with more games than not ending up abandoned and offering no reward.

Football Manager launches its own semi-imaginary football club
https://www.pcgamer.com/football-manager-launches-its-own-semi-imaginary-football-club/
The latest salvo in the world's ongoing attempt to blend reality and unreality is that Football Manager now kinda-but-not-really has its own football club. The Football Manager Football Club, or more mercifully FMFC, basically allows Football Manager fans to link their Steam or other accounts and get the usual mix of email updates, blogs, and 'member rewards' which, at the moment, include the chance to win the strip of this virtual team.

Door Kickers 2 gets a surprise launch after fan demands 'release the damn game'
https://www.pcgamer.com/door-kickers-2-gets-a-surprise-launch-after-fan-demands-release-the-damn-game/
Door Kickers 2, the sequel to the "difficult, rewarding" tactical puzzle game we scored 84/100 back in 2014, was announced in early 2016, with a release expected later that same year, or perhaps in early 2017. Instead, it was "re-announced" in February 2020, with an Early Access launch slated for sometime in the spring. That didn't happen either.
Finally, yesterday, Steam user Mind_Link ran out of patience. "Release the damn game!!" they demanded. In response, developer KillHouse Games said, "Okay," and then it did.

The Medium has been refused classification in Australia
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-medium-has-been-refused-classification-in-australia/
Update: The Australian Classification Board has sent through a statement regarding The Medium's banning in Australia. It doesn't shine light on the reasons for the ban on a content level, but it does confirm that Bloober Team's IARC submission breaks an unspecified rule. The Australian Classification Board itself has not received an application for the game.

419 top-ranked Apex Legends players banned for using a glitch to beat up Bronze players
https://www.pcgamer.com/419-top-ranked-apex-legends-players-banned-for-using-a-glitch-to-beat-up-bronze-players/
Apex Legends ranked play is divided into six tiers—Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, and Apex Predator—each (except for Apex Predator) subdivided into four divisions. Your rank is determined by Ranked Points earned through gameplay in ranked matches: The better you are, the higher you climb in the rankings, and the stiffer the competition becomes.

Here's exactly when you can start preloading Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War
https://www.pcgamer.com/black-ops-cold-war-preload-time-call-of-duty-cod/
We're almost a week out from the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War, the first game with a campaign led by Raven Software. With Treyarch leading development on multiplayer and the continued popularity of Warzone, it's shaping up to be an interesting year for the series. Like last year's Modern Warfare, Cold War is also shaping up to be a hefty download whether you're on a PC or a next-gen console.
Thankfully, Activision will soon be rolling out preloading for those who've preordered the game. The catch? PC players will have to wait a full five days longer.

Incoming Hearthstone patch makes big changes to Elementals in Battlegrounds
https://www.pcgamer.com/incoming-hearthstone-patch-makes-big-changes-to-elementals-in-battlegrounds/
A "sizable" balance patch for Duels and Battlegrounds is coming to Hearthstone tomorrow that will make a big change to Elementals: Instead of being present in every Battlegrounds game, where they've dominated since their arrival, they're being added to the minion rotation so that they won't appear in every match.

Sorry, but EA Motive isn't working on a new Star Wars game
https://www.pcgamer.com/sorry-but-ea-motive-isnt-working-on-a-new-star-wars-game/
Last week, our sister site GamesRadar reported on a recent EA Motive job listing for a programmer to work on "an upcoming Star Wars action game." The project was described as "an exciting new IP," and work on it was set to begin "immediately." Today on Twitter, however, the studio said the listing was an error, and that it is not actually working on a new Star Wars game at all.

This poker game has ray tracing (so the river should look amazing)
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-poker-game-has-ray-tracing-and-poker/
When you think of demanding games that really get your PC's fans blasting, your mind probably goes to something like Crysis, or, um... Crysis Remastered. You wouldn't normally think a poker sim would be capable of taxing your GPU. But, just like someone going all in with a 2-7 offsuit, you'd be wrong.

New Minecraft snapshot offers first taste of next year's Caves & Cliffs update
https://www.pcgamer.com/new-minecraft-snapshot-offers-first-taste-of-next-years-caves-and-cliffs-update/
The Minecraft Caves & Cliffs update is expected to hit in early 2021, but ahead of that milestone Mojang has issued the first snapshot showcasing its new content. Snapshots in Minecraft are basically testing phases which can be accessed only in the Java edition.

Capcom has been hacked, says no customer information compromised
https://www.pcgamer.com/capcom-has-been-hacked/
Capcom has issued a press release acknowledging that the company's internal systems were hacked a few days ago.
"Beginning in the early morning hours of November 2, 2020 some of the Capcom Group networks experienced issues that affected access to certain systems, including email and file servers. The company has confirmed that this was due to unauthorized access carried out by a third party, and that it has halted some operations of its internal networks as of November 2."

Fortnite brings back its old default skins - at a high price
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-brings-back-its-old-default-skins-at-a-high-price/
Fortnite has brought back its OG skins from the distant past of 2017, when players had to make do with the game's default characters. Oh the humanity! Not that I have anything against becoming Aquaman, Ghost Rider or wearing a hamburger for a head, but sometimes you just want to be an unassuming person in some khakis, amirite.

Apex Legends is bringing back the Holo-Day Bash and Winter Express this Christmas
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-is-bringing-back-the-holo-day-bash-and-winter-express-this-christmas/
Winter Express was a much-beloved Apex Legends mode, introduced late last year over the Christmas period, that changed-up the usual order of business in favour of quickfire rounds between three squads. Built around battling for control of a train, 'the Holiday Express', the mode slightly re-jigged map elements like ziplines and packed the squads into close proximity: it was fast, frantic, had amazing music, and was gone too soon.
