Honestly, I quit a few hours into Half Life 2. Sure the physics were groundbreaking technically but the gameplay was just so limp and tedious. What finally broke me was that horrible, horrible hoverboat escape that just went on and on and on until I couldn't bear it any more, what should have been a ten minute sequence's dragged on for like 50, it was unbearable. |
I agree with this one. Even though I completed HL2 and Episode One, it seemed like a major stepback compared to the first one. In everything - the direction they went with this one, gameplay, physics. Yes, it was technologically advanced back in the day, but for some reason I just like GoldSrc games more than Source games. For me Source engine was a step back for Valve and it just made games less enjoyable.
