No online or patches required. Quite impressive that this also applies to PS4 bc games.

However, Sony's been sending out optional updates for some of their PS4 games with locked framerates (link). If these patches are unlocking framerates in preparation for PS5 boost mode, I'd certainly have no problem updating before playing. 60FPS all the way.

My console is always online, so I don't mind patching them for best performance. I just abhor the idea of not being able to play them without connection as can happen with digital titles.
