But I don't understand why his speech bothers you this much; I mean, these companies give us half-truths, PR statements, and outright lies all the time, all of them. Nintendo once said that Switch was not meant to replace the Wii U and 3DS, but instead coexist with them (I have no idea why they felt the need to say that, but they did). Ryan recently said that all PS5 games were going to be exclusives bcuz they believed in generations and all that jazz. And now you have MS with the "When everybody plays, we all win" PR bs.

It's the nature of business. We all should've been used to it by now; you just have to learn to read between the lines.

It is more on the consistence of Phil Spencer statements that are half truths, empty responses always trying to pose as the nice guy that get applauded instead of scrutinized. He does it all the time.

I remember Ryan saying they believed in generations and that PS5 games would harness the power of the console, but don't remember he saying any timeframe that all games released would be exclusives, perhaps that was just interpretation on his not defining (and it was heavily criticized when some of the PS5 games were informed to be PS4 releases as well, with Horizon being the most criticized one).

Like you are accepting Phil was being vague and not really truthful (as is common with PR), but if you see some of the other replies I got, they were basically defending Phil as he is always telling the truth.

In the end I respect that he’s talkative. There is no Xbox radio silence on community concerns. And if he can’t say a direct answer, he knows exactly what he is allowed to say.

By comparison I see you defending Jim Ryan for being openly misleading with “believing in generations” while official marketing conveniently leaving out platform availability when Spiderman MM and Horizon were announced. Nm they were silent for months in other topics like BC functionality and official teardown (when to expect).

Point being ill personally defend Phil because his approach is better then being silent and ultimately letting your community down due to lack of transparency. He ain’t perfect but he’s the best kind of PR among the big 3.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.
