Video game music is something I feel is pretty important for a game, which is why games that go with an atmospheric approach (BotW, I'm looking at you) leaves a lot to be desired.
Looking at individual songs is very different than looking at an OST as a whole
The Wind Waker
I'm part of the minority that really enjoys sailing, largely due to The Great Sea playing in the background. A lot of stellar tracks overall in this game
Tales of Symphonia
The OST overall is fantastic, with new battle and overwold tunes as you progress through the game, something FF and DQ could learn from. Is one of the few games where I listened through every song in the whole soundtrack
Super Mario Galaxy
This was the first time I've ever heard an orchestrated sound track in a video game, and it truly makes all of the difference
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Arguably the best OST in my opinion. So many fantastic tracks, with very few songs that I actually dislike
Dragon Quest XI S
Just take the best songs in the whole franchise and orchestrate it. What can go wrong? Spoiler: it doesn't, but a decent amount of the new music introduced in this game isn't great.
Final Fantasy 12: TZA
I heard half of the tracks through FF Tactics A2, so the original soundtrack definitely holds up especially when remastered
A Link to the Past
Despite not having any nostalgia for this SNES game, the soundtrack holds up extremely well even today
Fire Emblem Echoes
Sort of have to have a Fire Emblem rep, and this one definitely takes the cake
Etrian Odyssey Untold 2
Remastering the already spectacular soundtrack of Etrian Odyssey 2 just makes it even better. Not a huge fan of the battle and boss music though
Insert rhythm game here
Can't beat a collection of great music
