Ubisoft stopped doing that stuff a few years ago.  The last two Ass Creed games, for example, have among the least intrusive monetization schemes of any AAA games in recent memory.

I threw the "Uplay account mandatory" thing in there because as far as I know, it is always required for any online play with Ubisoft games. Now, this won't apply to Immortals, but I think on Steam, Ubisoft is even more oppressive in regards to Uplay implementation than it is on consoles, where you need an account for any game, regardless if it has an online component or not. Could be wrong on that, but the point is, Uplay is absolute trash, and only benefits Ubisoft and the ghouls they sell the player's information to, and not the player.

As for AC...I did a quick look at Odyssey. 7 different pages of microtransactions, ( skins, weapons, maps, ships, mounts, ect ) one of which is a page dedicated to the "time saving" microtransactions I mentioned, that the player can buy to fix the intentionally bad grind. Tacky DLC cross-promotion with Totino's Pizza Rolls. I think SIX different special editions. This is among the least intrusive monetization scheme of any AAA game in recent memory? It was worse than this? Yikes. Just greedy. Terrible. Also, choice use of the word "scheme".
