Well, as I wrote to KLA Marine a few pages ago (direct link), I've reached the conclusion in my replays that the ending of The Last of Us Part II is actually a hopeful one if you pay attention to the details. At least that's how I interpret it anyway.

Concerning your preference that this game should've either been a Jackson community-building title or written by Steven Spielberg...well at least you got half your wish with all the Jurassic Park and Lost World references and allusions both at the museum and in the auto chase scene (allusion to the Lost World arcade game). It's kind of like Steven Spielberg was involved.

Hahaha brilliant.

But anyway, for all those who see better things on the second than the first, I just have to say that I couldn't disagree more. The disagreement is so strong that makes it impossible to debate. For me seeing more light on this game than the first is just completely bonkers.

Kotaku reviewer just nailed it when they called it misery simulator. I'll stick to that and it's final. I'll never replay this game, I'll resell it instead.

It's been so interesting reading everyone's interpretations of the game and even the past games. I mean this game was depressing and so was the last one. The dude's daughter died and then he finally gets a new daughter in a way but loses a women he fell in love with. Then he has to decide between humanity finding a cure or keeping his replacement daughter and he chooses the most selfish option and dooms humanity.

It's amazing what games have become since the days I started playing mario on my nes when I was 9. The outrage over this has been very similar to what happened during GOT and the red wedding. Which funnily enough was an event that almost caused me to stop watching the show.
