Reviews are pretty worthless nowadays, none I read mentioned any of the issues I encountered. I guess they were all ushered into playing in the sanctioned areas with the working planes. A lot depends on Bing maps and some areas simply don't have good coverage on Bing. They will get better yet in the mean time the game doesn't do a good job blending detail levels.
When you're over the good stuff it sure is great. I just did a couple lazy circles over a very detailed glacier to gain height and get over the mountain. On top of the mountain the issues started again, then auto pilot got in a murderous mood which took a while to get it to calm down an stop trying to dive into the ground. Keeps you busy haha.
The you come down the other side and your jaw hits the floor again :)
