Gotham Knights is not a live service game and can be played offline
https://www.pcgamer.com/gotham-knights-is-not-a-live-service-game-and-can-be-played-offline/
"This is very much not designed as a game-as-service," producer Fleur Marty told IGN. "There is an ability tree, which is different for each of the characters, and then there's gear that you craft—and so choices that you're going to be making—but that does not mean that this is a game-as-service."

https://www.pcgamer.com/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-will-have-multiple-endings/
Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War is a direct sequel to the first Black Ops, though like Black Ops 2, it won't be entirely linear. At Gamescom's Opening Night Live today, Raven Software's Dan Vondrak said that "player choice and player freedom" will drive the campaign of Black Ops - Cold War.

Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead is the year's weirdest crossover
https://www.pcgamer.com/bridge-constructor-the-walking-dead-is-the-years-weirdest-crossover/
I guess I could've seen this coming in 2017 when the developers behind Bridge Constructor made a game set in Valve's Portal universe, but 2017 was a long time ago, so here we are with one of the oddest surprises of Gamescom's Opening Night Live: a game about bridges, and also The Walking Dead. The new entry in the Bridge Constructor series borrows the Walking Dead license to make, in their words, "the ultimate mashup experience" (clearly these developers have never had a dark chocolate peanut butter cup).

Fall Guys Season 2 is going medieval with new minigames and costumes
https://www.pcgamer.com/fall-guys-season-2/
Fall Guys Season 2 is coming, and I have no doubt dedicated players are ready for it—if you put lots of hours into the candy-colored party royale you've probably worked your way through Season 1 and unlocked all the costumes, emotes, and other rewards.

The Sims 4 is getting a Star Wars pack, and it looks pretty great
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-sims-4-is-getting-a-star-wars-pack-and-it-looks-pretty-great/
The Sims 4's stream of new expansion packs and add-ons just keeps on flowing, and the latest is a sci-fi crossover that feels like it should have happened years ago. Star Wars is coming to The Sims 4 next month, and it honestly looks pretty great in the trailer above.
>> But not everybody seems happy about it.

Bungie shows off new Stasis powers in latest Destiny 2: Beyond Light trailer
https://www.pcgamer.com/bungie-shows-off-new-stasis-powers-in-latest-destiny-2-beyond-light-trailer/
Easily the most alluring feature of Destiny 2's Beyond Light expansion is the introduction of a new element called "Stasis. " This is the first new damage type (joining Solar, Arc, and Void) to be added to the series since launch, and as such it will also bring whole new subclasses. Today, as part of the Gamescom opening night jamboree, Bungie released a new trailer delving further into how Stasis works. And yes, it's a lot like ice, and no, I don't know why it isn't just called 'Frost'.

Our sympathies to the Elden Ring subreddit as FromSoftware is a no-show at Gamescom
https://www.pcgamer.com/our-sympathies-to-the-elden-ring-subreddit-as-fromsoftware-is-a-no-show-at-gamescom/
As the few surviving optimists on r/EldenRing point out, only 27 days until Tokyo Game Show.

Dwarf Fortress will finally let us enjoy the sight of disembowelled guts
https://www.pcgamer.com/dwarf-fortress-will-finally-let-us-enjoy-the-sight-of-disembowelled-guts/
Dwarf Fortress designer Tarn Adams has given us a rare glimpse of the fancy Steam version's stumpy denizens, but they've seen better days. All three of them, unfortunately, have come down with a nasty case of being disembowelled.

Blood Bowl 3 has been punted back to 2021
https://www.pcgamer.com/blood-bowl-3-has-been-punted-back-to-2021/
The fantasy races of Warhammer are once again preparing to take a break from their relentless wars to instead beat the crap out of each other for sport. Blood Bowl 3 was announced in 2019 and was expected to appear this year, but we've not heard a peep since. It finally resurfaced this week and is still on its way, but it's been pushed back until 2021.

Let's end with the GOG and Steam deals for the weekend:
