With these kinds of things it's better to run the games windowed. Neither Windows nor games like sudden changes in resolution. This has been an issue for decades. It's also the reason why I have a separate PC for everything that's not gaming so that I don't have a need to ever tab out.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
