Looks like you're really enjoying the game, Yuri.

And looks like Nvidia's rumored special power connector is actually real. I wonder how much those ar going to cost. It also makes me wonder how bad the power consumption of the new cards will be. With the special cooler and power cable, it looks like Nvidia's new cards could be real powe hogs and run hot.

Wouldn't it be ridiculous if, after so many years, AMD ended with a more efficient architecture even if it doesn't reach the peformance as Nvidia's new cards? Will power consumption and efficiency remain important if Nvidia is on the losing side or will the statement change again to the only thing that matters is the performance?

i never heard someone say that they care about consumption

Sigh, This conversation just made me realize a GPU upgrade just got ~$450 more expensive for me.  Ran a CPU and GPU stress test on my computer at same time and currently peaking at 901 watts.  That with a Geforce 1080 so I can see a Geforce 3090 pushing it over 1000.  The good news is I got a 1600 Watt PSU so no problem there.

Bad news is the UPS I use is only rated for 1000 watts.  I could just bypass it and put computer on a regular surge protector but I really prefer the computer to shut down correctly during power outage.  Cheapest decent UPS I could find that provides enough power is Cyber power PR1500LCD which is 1500 watts and going to set me back another $450.
