Basically those drives replaced the old NAS which was 10x8 terabyte drives, I had that in operation for a good 5~ years, wanted to dump that setup and reduce the amount of drives due to power costs, complexity, noise and the higher risk of data loss.
Shit even my Xbox One X has 14 Terabytes... Plus the 1 Terabyte of internal space... And I only have a couple terabytes free on that.
Plus now that I have a 100Mbps connection for the last few years, I don't see the need to keep backup copies of games and keep everything installed as I am no longer limited by a shit 2Mbps DSL line.
I should mention I was running servers and such, plus doing development work which I no longer do, at the moment just hosting some database and files for the fire station, need to have a redundancy for when the internet goes offline during an emergency.
