Your going to see a trend:

Halo 3- was worse than the first 2 and for some odd reason felt like it had less. Just wasn't as well made both story and wise and online wise.

Resistance- so there's stereotypical sci fi shooter and stereotypical WW2 shooters. This game managed to combine both into one big stereotype of disappointment. Devs take this as a note. Combining 2 stereotypes doesn't make it more original but worse.

Bioshock- ya know I must say it was different in some areas other than shooters but it was such a drag to get through. I never got into the story and it always felt like I was working. Games should be fun, not work to get through.

Metroid Prime 3- really the first one was amazing. Finally something inventive in FPS. And then MP3 lost its roots. Great controls but nothing else really too it.

Gears of War- EASILY the most overrated game of all time. Not only did this game create one of the largest stereotypical games ever(characters, enemies, setting, storyline, ect) but it didn't even do it as well as the ones that originally did it. It had a sublime and short campaigned that jumped around from exciting moments to completely dull. There was no rhythm to it whatsoever. Was put together by a 5 yr old is the best way of explaining. The characters were such stereotypical badasses with no personality whatsoever. It was like playing with an action figure rather than a human. The weapons were uncreative as all it had going for it was a gimmicky chainsaw gun. Wouldn't have been a gimmick if the other guns had something special too. Setting was a science fiction apocalyptic area. Seriously how many times must this be done until we are done with it. And at least if you going to do it how about something new at least in the story and artistic wise. Finally the online was unbalanced, primitive compared to others, and needed work which it never got. This game deserved 6s and 7s like Haze got, not 9's and some 10s.
