I don't think this would be a good thing. Third-party exclusives seem to be going down each generation due to more and more games on PCs, smart devices, and other consoles in general.
PS1 and PS2 had hundreds of third-party exclusives each. PS3 had about a hundred, give or take. And PS4 only has dozens.
I'm all for exclusive games since consoles aren't going away for at least another two to three gaming generations. But I don't want a very high amount of exclusives because that restricts a player's selection.

It's not trust there's less, the money is just being used differently.

Securing games for gold/ ps+ is the same thing. Securing content for gamepass and PS now is the same thing. Buying historically 3rd party studios to make exclusive content for you is the same thing.

It's just different avenues. MS is putting their money into making Gamepass more lucrative. This makes sense considering what their future plans are. Sony is continuing a more traditional model.

That said, Imran from Kinda funny has recently said that Sony was offering more than MS were willing to pay for this content.

Yeah I read that.. both are on in it. Apparently Microsoft was talking to third parties as well for exclusive content. As you said word is Sony just offered more and Microsoft wasn't willing to pay. Its just business. Playstation is a large part of Sony's business, so I'm sure they're willing to go invest more into it as far as thrid party stuff is concerned. Its been a staple to their success.

Microsoft started it early on the generation with SE, with timed Tomb Raider. And Sony wasn't having none of that this time. Its rather lame, but it works.
