Ew no. Her character is awful, her voice over is bad. In the latest games she's a killing machine with little to no remorse and lacks the charm, humor and charisma to pull it off like the Lara of the 90's/early 00's. She lost her style and iconic looks (attire) along the way. Way different to old Lara she went from an explorer/adventurer with larger than life body proportions; to run of the mill designed character who's as well designed as her dull VA. Lara was always a strong character who was iconic to male and female games alike. That hasn't changed much but since the reboot, Lara essentially turned into a gritty female version of Nathan Drake. Without the likability or old Lara or humor. Looks like that went with her boob size.. :P Joking aside, sex appeal doesn't always mean bad if its done tastefully. It can be empowering like the Lara Croft was an icon for many female gamers. Why does having having bigger or smaller assets matter? We're all built differently. Why change a character who's been a part of a lot of peoples gaming life. Its like would you rather see fight as Steve Rogers before or after he got the super soldier serum when he turned into Captain America? Or something along the middle where he would have very average body proportions and more realistic design - maybe add a few more lb's of body fat and loose the six pack. |
Heh, not saying you’re wrong, but I’m just saying, since this is a thread solely about looks, that bigger “assets”, to my tastes aren’t exactly an asset.
This is also why I think Dead or Alive (even the fighting game variety) to me is one of silliest and cheesiest things out there. I don’t actually care whether or not something like this would be ‘demeaning’ or whatever in the eyes of a woman, that’s for someone else to decide, I just think it’s silly. Same thing for old Lara Croft, taken at face-value, and to take this further into the movie sphere, of the actresses they had to pick to resemble each era’s Lara; Alicia Vikander > Angelina Jolie. So to stay within the question of this topic, the ‘desexification’, if you want to call it that, appeals more to me than the original look, because I ironically find things that are more ‘normal’ to be ‘sexier’ than silly extremes.
