Durante's been looking at the PC port so far for HZD, and his last paragraph got me lol:

"Overall, if all you want is 60 FPS and you have a relatively recent system and a sufficiently fast GPU for your target resolution, that should be easy enough to achieve as long as you take note of the settings and configuration requirements I pointed out in the performance deep dive section. However, chasing consistent very high framerates above that (e.g. 120 FPS) seems like a fool’s errand even on top-end hardware. Ultimately the game is a visual spectacle and the gameplay is not particularly fast-paced, so the severe sacrifices in graphics necessary to achieve even relatively consistent 120 FPS do not appear to be worth it in this case."

Also word's going around that it's not GG that was working on the port, but Virtuos studios, which has a known history of not so rgeat port jobs.

Honestly for the asking price and the fact that even high end hw is struggling with the game and no DLSS 2.0 in sight, I feel like that game is worth waiting for a deep sale. DS was clearly the superior port here.

Not a great look for a Sony first party game port job, getting the lesser studio to do the job just shows a lack of actual interest and care for an otherwise clearly lucrative platform.

Yea I might get a refund if the issues are as bad as the tests suggest. It looks like those that were able to get 60 fps on a 1060 just ran the benchmark which apparently just goes through a mostly empty desert with not much foliage.

According to DF on resetera as they are making their own video about this. There's like two performance settings which setting them to the highest quality has a big performance hit. But setting them to high has minimal visual differences while gaining a noticeable performance back. But yea, overall, terrible port, specially when you look at their FAQ:

Known Issues
  • Anisotropic Filtering settings are not working. This is a high priority issue for us to resolve.
  • Some systems may experience a brief stutter during general world traversal, UI updates, quest updates, or camera swaps in cutscenes. This is a high priority issue for us to investigate.
  • Some animations are designed to only refresh at 30fps even if the game is running at a much higher frame rate. We are exploring how we can improve this with a future update.
