The difference is that they are also paying a lot of money to get 3rd party games day 1 on GamePass. 

And alot of ppl here want MS to get WB games, so that's a few more multiplatform studios going exclusive. 

Lets please not pretend that giving smaller developers financial support to help finish their games, in exchange for some exclusivity, is the same thing as paying a giant publisher like Square Enix or whatnot to add absolutely nothing to their game, but just keep it off other platforms.
