I remember the Gamegear that took like 6 AA batteries and lasted just under 3 hours of gameplay, with normal alkaline batteries. Normad was apparently worse, haha. Gotta love the 90's. Many good concepts, and yet so bad in execution in functionality.

True, some ideas come before the tech is ready, like gamegear and virtuaboy.
